Pause and Smile

I am putting in and trying to complete this 30 day photo challenge #pauseandsmile. It is done on instagram and there is a gaggle of fantastic goodies you can win. I really enjoy this one because it is asking you to take a moment in your day and find a reason to smile and enjoy just that moment. Each day has a theme and a reason to smile. 4 days down 26 more.

Sickness and 15 months

We have been sick around here lately. It started with Danny and moved to Penny, then me. Penny however lucked out (not really any sickness sucks) she didn't catch the same thing as us. This is my first time being sick this winter and I'm glad it only happened once. Penny is all better after having mess britches (a little nicer sounding then diarrhea) for a day and then getting her body to feel better so she would eat things again. Danny and I are on our last day of the healing with small sore throats still lingering. Penny is a great trooper and hung out inside like a champ. We did lots of reading.

Penny did just have her 15 month check up. She is such a healthy baby and we are very blessed.
We played with finger puppets while waiting for the doctor which took extra long due to an emergency in the building. Penny held up good thanks to me having some snacks in her backpack. Fabulous om move on my part.

Height: 31 inches (74%)

Weight: 26.3 lbs (95%)

She does not like the doctors doing things to her. From taking her temperature to checking her breathing she fussed and squirmed. Of course it was time for shots as well which is heartbreaking to hold herr and feel her shudder and cry. She gets over it relatively quick though (...few)

Anyways today is a beautiful day outside. Just laid P down for nap and this mamma is trying to get a little done from blogging to working a little more on her playhouse (due this spring) so we can go outside and enjoy the sunshine when Penny is up.

Mornings are for friends

This morning after work we headed over to my girlfriends new apartment to see the new place and to visit before her 2nd baby girl arrives via scheduled C-section tomorrow morning at 8 am. Another one of my friends Marcie and her little boy came over to play also. Penny had her first ride on an electric atv. Looks like I know what to get her as soon as the weather clears up and we have somewhere to ride it.

As cute as this looks, these babes still have manners and sharing to learn. but the more time together and the older they get those know hows will come naturally. We can't wait to meet our new friends when she arrives tomorrow. We wish her and her mommy a happy, healthy delivery.
We are also ready to start having some more play dates with friends and learning about love, friendship and sharing!

Busy kidz

It officially is raining here. We have not had rain and have been hearing of droughts through out California already and it is only February so this storm is quit welcome. With that being said the rain does cause us to have to play inside and come up with creative things to do. We were invited to a birthday party at Busy Kidz. A new place in Folsom that is a miniature town indoors. From the post office to the school house and even the restaurant with karaoke stage was a mini and super cute.

Penny loved playing with the pieces of mail and mail boxes in the post office. This would be a great place for a birthday so you could choose the number of people. Great for people like me who don't do huge crowds well unless I'm forced to.
Time stands still in the phone booth. (At least this picture makes it seem that way)
Now this place is still new, so i feel like it could be a bit better with a few more items in each room and possibly some wall decor, but that's just me. It is a fantastic idea and I hope this place flourishes into a birthday hot spot. Here are a few more pictures of the place. There is also a "cafe" area for the adults to sit back and let there kids play. Comfy chairs, coffee and wi-fi will keep parents coming back as much as the kids.

Slurp-able Smoothies

The last few weeks Penny's appetite has certainly changed.  She has become much more picky with what she eats. basically no fruit unless it's dried and in that case most anything is delicious to her. Veggies are spared. she will pick at corn and peas as well as broccoli, green beans and sometimes carrots. I decided to teach her to drink from a straw and then we were on to smoothies once a day.

Teaching her to drink through the straw took only a minute, I held liquid in it and let her slurp it out. she adores the smoothies I make her. I get "Mmmm" and  some clapping for when it's especially good.
Our main ingredients are strawberries, bananas and spinach, then we add things here and there for different tastes. I will add apples, celery, carrots and blueberries sometimes. I am interested in getting some chia seeds and maybe some flax seeds for the extra nutrition.

I say we need some new tumblers for Mama and P to take our smoothies on the road. and to prevent less spills around the house.
